Rural development programmes in India for progress of the villages

The population of India is approximately 125 crore. Out of which 70% of the population is subjected to various problems. The gravest of all the problems are faced by the poverty driven lower class. Their problems seem to be never ending and their means to cure the existing problem and prevent the upcoming problems are limited to a very marginal base. Out of the 100 million there are certain people who are a little more privileged and those who in their own way try to help and support people in need. These people or organizations who work for the improvement of the country and its people without the support of the government are called as the NGO in India.

These Private Organizations pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, and provide social or community development. They provide services for the women, downtrodden, culturally weak, children, and welfare of the poor as well as animals are running successfully all across India. They thrive to improve their lives and are running solely for the purpose of development and improvement. Some of the NGO’s in India are also affiliated with the government programmes which work towards development. Through their help lines and drives it is possible for a person in need to reach them and get needed help.

Just like these organizations work within the country, there are others around the world that work globally to foster help and services to the equipped. With the constant increase of epidemics and disasters, these organizations come to the rescue of those who are in need of help and for those countries who unwillingly fail to provide help to the citizens due to certain circumstances. These organizations are known as the international non governmental organizations. Their main focus is to provide relief and development aid to developing countries. They are also one of the first respondents to natural disasters, like hurricanes, floods and famines, or crisis that need emergency relief.

The villages in India have been under the torments of various economic, social and developmental problems since times immemorial. With abject poverty, disease and disaster being the host of the villagers, the health of the villagers has disintegrated and they have been subjected to various cruel tactics of the businessmen from the cities. To improve the condition of the rural population and to enlighten them about the various knowledgeable insights on their fields of activity the government of India as well private organizations have come up with a series of Rural Development Programmes in India.

They are as follows:
1)      Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana.
2)      Installation of Hydrams
3)      Marketing of Rural Goods
4)      Milch Lifestock Improvement
Rural Development through Diversification in Agriculture.

Reliance foundation hospital at the services of poor and disadvantaged

When starting an organization it may seem like a intimidating task, anyone with the devotion, endurance and the skill to follow orders could successfully integrate a non-profit organization. Financial figures (e.g., tax compensation and financing income, income from the sale of goods and services or investment income) are significant indicators to evaluate the financial viability of a charity, especially for charity surveyors. This information may have an impact on the status of a charity with donors and businesses, and therefore, the financial welfares of the entity. Charities are often based in part on contributions various foundations like with the HN hospital. These donations to charity are an important form of corporate generosity.

It differs from other types of NPOs in that it emphases on the goal, not-for-profit and benevolent and social purpose of being (e.g., giving, instructive, spiritual, or other interest in the public or common service)

Following the subsequent steps will be able to make your own international non-governmental organization:

Forming a charity has a desire for a cause. Ask yourself what you love. Find out if others are fervent about it. Envisage what kind of change you want to do. The creation of an international non-governmental organization is a way to reach them. The vision of the charity should be your ultimate goals. To start a nonprofit organization, as defined in section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the events of your body must be charitable and must be registered in certain categories. To be considered for exemption from taxes, your goal should be spiritual, technical, instructive, charitable (eg, to relieve the poor), literature, prevention of cruelty or public safety. Decide whether a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization is best suited to meet their charitable goals. In addition to non-profit organizations, there are also aids. Trusts differ from non-profit organizations that are more focused on the circulation of money in the spreading of services in the communal.

The role of reliance foundation hospital in the development of the country:

What will your organization do? What service will provide your community? Once you comprehend your mission, write a official mission declaration. A good mission statement as the basis of dependency hospital concisely interconnects to others: "volunteers, community members and potential donors. - What you do and what you expect to do mission statement should be short (ideally about 3-5 sentences), clear, jargon free. If you have trouble writing, visit the websites of the organizations established like reliance foundation hospital and study their task declarations. Complete your mission declaration to set goals that are attainable and stimulating.

It is strongly suggested that you raise the value of funds functioning at least one year before opening your business. Spend your cash wisely from top to bottom. Always try to keep the costs of working and bankrolling below 20% of your total expenditures. The rest should support your cause. Write grants, raise funds through various initiatives, create packages, organize proceedings, bring people together, resolve difficulties, and in general make the public, the coast-to-coast, or the realm you live into a better place!

CSR activities in India boost the efforts of various NGOs

With the rapid rise of several problems in society, especially issues related to poverty and lack of education, many individuals and organizations are raring to do something about the situation. Individuals may have a limited scope when it comes to making a big difference but organizations can truly be that beacon of hope for complex causes such as these. A lot of national as well as international non-governmental organizations are working tirelessly in this field, but lately there has been a new player that is making huge difference. The corporate sector is pumping in resources to help causes that appeal to them.

One of the major causes that industries and non-governmental organizations are dedicated towards is development in the rural areas of the country. The difference between the facilities, education, healthcare and infrastructure available in urban and rural areas is extremely wide. This makes the role of the NGO in rural development even more vital and the support that industries are giving is even more required. The task ahead is a difficult one but the good news is that a lot of awareness and support is coming in and that makes the task at least a little bit more achievable.

Now that the awareness from the corporate sector has come in and laws have also been passed that make corporate social responsibility a must, the wheels are turning a lot faster. As money, comes in as a part if CSR activities in India, the fortunes of the rural community are set to change for the better. A lot of NGOs and corporate entities are tying up and performing life changing tasks for the rural areas and a lot of corporate are also getting involved so deeply that they are setting up their own trusts and charities to help bring progress in faster.

A big reason for the great involvement of corporate in social causes could be the laws that make corporate social responsibility a must, but there are several great companies that have been involved in charitable endeavors long before the passing of this law. Along with national and international non governmental organisation, corporate firms have been involved in development due to a strong desire to give back to the people and the land that has been the reason for their great success in the corporate world. This had inspired a great number of industries and organizations to get involved but with the passing of the law, even more have joined in the effort.

Corporate firms are strongly encouraged to spend a percentage of their profit earned on a social cause of their choice and a large number of organizations tend to pick rural development as the goal that they wish to work towards. They recognize the role of NGO in rural development and wish to support these NGOs further in their great work. This gives the people of India a great future to look forward to when it comes to bridging the rural and urban divide that so ails the country today.

Role of NGOs in rural development has been very overwhelming

More than 65% of the Indian population lives and depends on the very basic sectors of economy for their day-to-day needs such as food, shelter, electricity etc. Of these 65%, majority of the population depends on the agricultural sector for their livelihood. In a country of 1.2 billion people, there is only so much that government can do without any help from other sources. Here is where a Non Profit Organisation can step in and do some good work.

The significant role of NGOs in rural development:
Since the Independence, many NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) have emerged across the nation when the country was in deep shock from the partition and was going through a phase of economic as well as emotional turmoil. Many groups were formed who started to work at the very grass-root levels. The role of NGOs in rural development since the Independence has, in many ways made India what it is today, and the role is increasing constantly and changing at the same time as the varied policies in the government change according to the plans.

The value of CSR projects in India:
One of the ways in which corporate companies and industries have helped the rural and uneducated citizens of India is by engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility in which various companies kick-start different projects in different areas to help the poor, illiterate and rural population to realize their true potential and work towards making India a better place to live in. These activities have been around in India since the 1850s. During those times, CSR backed projects were purely philanthropic in nature by creating new places of worship, new schools etc. Today however CSR projects in India have very wide range which starts from healthcare to education and employment, the three main things that can make or break a nation. CSR is quite important for a country also because there is only so much that a government in a country as big and populated as India can do.

The benefits of a Non Profit Organisation:
These CSR's though not run by NGOs, they are quite famous for taking the kind of initiatives that they have taken. Many NGOS work at levels that concern a higher authority in nature such as the environment also, whereas CSR's generally work at the grass-roots level to help and find out the condition of the people. However Non profit organisation, the ones which use surplus revenues to achieve the goals. The basic idea behind a non-profit organisation is that it has no owners and the all the funds in the operation of organisation will not be used to appoint unnecessary luxuries at the house of one of the owners.

Best CSR projects in India

Starting a school and sharing your vision for education with the world can be one of the most satisfying career choices you'll make. Between developing a comprehensive curriculum, negotiating the choppy legal waters of filing for non-profit status, finally opening your school, and being a part of one of the CSR projects in India, A bit of planning is essential at all steps in the process. Read article to learn more about starting your own school from scratch.

One can start with developing a compelling educational vision. A compelling vision is essential to guide you through the start up phase and beyond. Your vision will drive decisions and actions in the short-and long-term. It is necessary to envision your school. Write out a curriculum. When writing a curriculum, you need to consider both the practical organizational matters of day-to-day operations, as well as the scope and sequence of learning you hope your school to achieve. A well-written curriculum should address the following categories of information. After this write a teaching statement. Articulate the pedagogy you'd like your prospective teachers to use, understand, and develop in their classrooms. Will your school be test-heavy? Writing-based or Discussion-oriented? Describe the ways in which teachers will be held accountable for their students' learning and the ways in which they may run their classroom. Once you are done with the above get your curriculum approved. To get state-certified, and to let your school be eligible for state money, you need to get your curriculum approved by the School Board in your state, which will probably involve an audit of your curriculum, and your incorporation documents. Education is the best route towards social welfare and companies like CSR of Reliance aims to achieve that.

It is very important to prepare a business plan. Your business plan will describe your goals for the school, the reasons they are attainable, and how you plan to achieve them financially. A business plan will be necessary to begin raising funds and fulfilling the incorporation steps necessary to start a school. Gather a board of directors. You won't be able to do this by yourself, so one of the first steps in starting your school needs to be appointing like-minded administrators to make up a board of directors who will jointly make all financial and operational decisions, hire faculty, and oversee the school. Register as a non-profit. By filing as a non-profit, you'll be able to receive grants, donations, be a part of CSR projects in India, and receive other types of funding that wouldn't normally be available to a for-profit organization. The last step is to recruit and enrol students. Find excitable and willing students to welcome to your school. When you've got all the legal mess out of the way, you can start sharing your vision with enthusiastic parents, teachers, and students to facilitate an exchange of learning. Start enrolling students in your school, to make your dream a reality.

CSR activities in India undertaken by Reliance

CSR i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility is normally commenced by commercial estates as a part of their communal responsibilities towards the general public and the communal integrity that they carry, from end to end which they help numerous deprived units of the social order. There are fairly a few CSR organizations in India and one of the major international non governmental organisation is the Reliance foundation. Reliance foundation has made numerous guidelines and has in full swing started various enterprises and all of them are attentive on determined to accomplish the wants of a common citizen so that he doesn't have to struggle much. They capitalize in countless establishments, foundations and at numerous other dwellings in order to bring about growth in terms of many social direction needs and objectives which they have placed down for themselves and of which there is a chief necessity. Reliance foundation in India pledges and ropes various CSR activities in India which emphases on foundation of well-being, education etc. CSR activities by them safeguards assistance by conveying forth countless quantity of aid sites like eye examination camp, fertility camp, blood gift camp, making of infirmaries and trusts which deliver health facilities. Contribution of non-profit organization in the growth of the country

The people in villages also face problems related to education. Sizeable numbers of people are uneducated and ignorant in the rural areas. In India, many villages do not have schools, and some of the existing schools do not have teachers, and some others are not in working conditions. Lack of education has contributed to the development of traditionalism and superstitious beliefs among the rural habitants. The role of NGO in rural development, especially in the educational field is very remarkable. NGOs set up schools in remote villages, promote education and provide mid-day meals to students. For the development of rural areas it is very important that the rural population gets at least basic education.

Education is the source of well-being and development of a person. Apart from education, the villages in India also lack civic amenities. In comparison to cities, villages lack facilities like proper medical care, electricity, transport facilities, communication facilities, such as radio, television, newspaper, post and telegraph, telephone, etc. The role of NGO in rural development, especially in providing civic amenities is extraordinary. Another problem faced by villages is that they are unorganised and politically unaware. Their failure to understand the democratic methods of administration has contributed to the inefficient functioning of the rural administrative bodies.

In India the rural administrative bodies such as the panchayats have been widely criticised as inefficient, defective, corrupt, selfish and full of communal and caste feelings. Inefficient rural administration can hardly serve the cause of the people. A non-profit organization can venture into such villages and educate the people about the political system of the country and the role that they play in the system. Villagers need to understand the importance of voting and the rights bestowed upon them by the law.

The social problems faced by numerous villages are also another cause of their backwardness. Due to ignorance, illiteracy and poverty, the rural people have become the victims of some evil habits and practices. Many of them are habituated to smoking, gambling, drinking liquors and prostitution. People in villages also believe in superstition and lack scientific temple. A non-profit organization plays an important role in warding off these evils from a village. They educate the people and explain the importance of science to them.

The advantages of foundations like Reliance foundation

The fact that India is still a developing country is best indicated with the fact that a large number of its people lives in the rural areas and in poverty. This is evidenced by the large number of people who continue to be deprived of regular amenities and facilities. So, the government is heavily involved in tasks of improving the life and livelihood of the people who continue to suffer as well. The non-profit organization is a body that is involved in doing some Samaritan work for these underprivileged people. However, what are the various advantages that having NGOs have brought for the country?

The wide reach for foundations like Reliance Foundation-
The government programs have often been trapped by infrastructure hurdles and other such hiccups. One of the major benefits that the various organizations and NGOs have is that they have suitably broadened the scope of public welfare programs further rather than the government doing it. This is because they often have the solid monetary support of major agencies like Reliance Foundation and others owned and controlled by major corporate conglomerates as well. Therefore, the wide area scope provided by NGOs located in major areas is a big advantage for the people of India.

The organized planning of Reliance Foundation and others-
One of the reasons as to why the government agencies have sorely failed in improving the underprivileged areas and sections is because it has been ridden with bureaucracy and red tape-ism. As a result, the NGOs have actually succeeded because they have got the advantage of proper planning and meticulous teamwork as well. In doing this, they will be able to carry out all the planned NGO work successfully as well. This is because they create organized teams of men and women who will work together in improving the underprivileged people successfully. They will also supervise the various things in a way so that the projects of a non profit organization will actually be accomplished.

Self-help and self-enrichment of a NGO organization-
One of the other benefits of the NGO assistance to the people is that they also help the people to help themselves. This means that the NGO organizations actually teach and educate the underprivileged people to take responsibility in their own hands. In doing this, the NGOs will be able to handle most of the work by inculcating good values and qualities in people. And these attributes will be able to develop the people who are underprivileged as well. This means that the people of this country will progress in great ways as well. This is the real advantage that self-enrichment activities of Reliance foundation will actually aid the country.

Develop CSR in India

Consumers want more than good service or products; they want to know they are making a difference in the world. Show them how they can do that through your company. Socially responsible companies are intentional about having a positive impact on the world around them. Whether you are starting a new business or building on a company's existing structures.

The fundamentals of CSR rest on the fact that not only public policy but even corporations should be responsible enough to address social issues. Thus companies should deal with the challenges and issues looked after to a certain extent by the states. The evolution of CSR in India refers to changes over time in India of the cultural norms of corporations' engagement of corporate social responsibility, with referring to way that businesses are managed to bring about an overall positive impact on the communities, cultures, societies and environments in which they operate. It is important to ponder your impact on your employees, community, and world when you consider how to start a socially responsible company.

Saving the earth is of utmost importance to many clients and employees. Your company can practice CSR in India by reducing your carbon footprint. Recycle and use recycled products. Though some recycled products cost more, they can help you reduce the amount of waste. Share files electronically instead of printing them. You can do this through email, creating a common server, or using a cloud-based document sharing program. This cuts back on the amount of paper your company uses. Encourage employees to car pool, if possible. This is especially important if your company has more than one office building, where staff members must constantly travel back and forth. Transport materials by ground. Using airplanes to carry products uses more fuel and harms the environmental more than ground transportation does. Use cloth or paper bags. Plastic is not biodegradable. Ask employees to use a tote bag or suitcase to carry papers, work materials, or lunches.

Though it is important to consider your global impact, being a socially responsible company also means looking at the impact you are having on your own community. Sponsor a fundraiser for a local non-profit. Nonprofits find it difficult to raise the money they need to run their organizations. Help them by providing the funds they need to organize an appropriate fundraiser. For example, sponsor a local 5K Run/Walk. Donate materials. Help a local non-profit by donating office supplies or used machines such as computers, copying machines, or printers. Contribute a supply of canned goods or clothing to a local shelter. Encourage staff members to volunteer. Be active in your community by mentoring, volunteering at a soup kitchen, cleaning up a local highway, or serving at your local church.

A socially responsible company shows its employees that they are important and valued members of their organization. Find ways to show your staff that you care. Protect their health and safety by offering reasonable health insurance, set up regular hospitals like the HN hospital, and maintain proper safety laws to ensure that your employees and their loved ones are cared for. Encourage them to maintain a work/life balance. Allowing staff members to take time off, spend time with family, and get appropriate rest will go a long way toward building company loyalty and goodwill.

Accomplishments of international non-governmental organization on a global scale

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a form of corporate objectivity which is assimilated into a business prototype. It has few other terms like corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, social performance and sustainable responsible business. The policy implements as an integrated, self-regulating set-up whereby a business inspects and safeguards its active obedience within the boundaries of the law, ethical standards, and international medians.  It is a progression with the purpose to hold accountability for the company's activities and inspire a confident sway through its actions on the environment, customers, staffs, societies as well as stakeholders. Over here, we will be divulging some data in concern to the CSR initiatives in India.

In order to overcome all the misfortunes, whether natural or man-made, there has to be a body that clenches the responsibility to bring the improvement.  Now again, the actions and tasks have to be under the restrictions of the judicial system and thus this job cannot be undertaken by any random individual. So, for the same, there is a systematic process to build a firm that is recognized by the law and has the authority to perform relevant activities. Some function within the nation while some look for a wider scope globally. For such tasks, there is an International non-governmental organization.

For every institution, group or company that has to be founded for the purpose of countrywide or global development, there are certain criteria to be considered. Similarly in order to establish itself on a worldwide chart, an international non-governmental organization has to follow the essential norms. It must support and esteem the ideologies of the Charter of the United Nations and must be of documented national or a global vertical. It should function merely on a non-profit root and have non-VAT grade. It should include the obligation and the funds to conduct operational statistics programmes with its components and to a wider audience about UN activities by publishing newsletters or bulletins. A lot of criteria have to be looked upon that involve the principles of global committees.

All the developed countries in the world include corporate social responsibility units; so imagine the need for the same by the developing countries. For instance, India is under the phase of a radical growth and it is aiming towards becoming the number one economy globally. Hence, CSR initiatives in India are authorized to assist any organization's operation as well as monitor as a guide to what the company outlooks for and will maintain to its customers. Development business ethics is one of the formulae of applied ethics that scrutinizes ethical principles or ethical problems that can arise in the business atmosphere.

We are a race that is often surrounded by problems and issues. We have a jurisdictive body, a legal system that is appointed for the service of people but as a matter of fact they fail at times. Sometimes, they are even unwilling to provide the services desired by the public. Hence the purpose of an International Non-governmental organization is to provide services that the state is unable or unwilling to provide for their people. Some quote mockingly that the governmental organizations need to be referred to as organizations with mental governance. The ones who think this to be true may raise their hand after reading this.

Strong initiatives by Mukesh Ambani Foundation

The Indian nation is currently experiencing all dynamic conversions in every field possible. It is a nation that has been claimed to stand at the peak in the next three decades. The reason for this positive change is due to the introduction of a capitalist policy during the 90’s period. Socialism couldn't serve the country for too long as there were no foreign transactions as well as independent business entrepreneurs had no chance of their own. Thanks to the undertaking of capitalism, the private sector expanded and autonomous business projects started taking place. Mukesh Ambani Foundation is one amongst such private ventures that is helping in the development of the country.

India is a nation that is ranked second in terms of population after China. The only problem is that, China is a country which has a huge land but for India, the conditions aren't the same. Hence, the residents here face a lot of troubles like unemployment, habilitation issues, poverty and lack of opportunities. Under such circumstances, the foundations of India play a very vital part by implementing wise actions for the welfare of the society. They introduce schemes for the needy in order to provide them with steady jobs and a healthy livelihood. There is so much to look for when it comes to the improvement of the country.

Education is the basis of success regarding every individual. This does not mean that everyone has to opt for a PhD degree or MBA, but at least basic level of education has to be consumed by all the children at their appropriate age. As a matter of fact, this is not available to many kids across the villages or unorganized urban areas. The causes might be poverty or lack of social awareness. Foundations in India have taken up the responsibility of education in their hands and thus provide free education to underprivileged children. Project Shiksha and Teach for India are some of the widespread ingenuities that have helped many to prosper. The motive is to eliminate the educational inequity that has been hampering the growth since so many years.

Major part of the country is still under development and the reason behind it is backward technology. There has to be significant investment in the sector of technology so as to transmute the rural conditions and give rise to opportunities. Mukesh Ambani foundation has been able to bring out a metamorphosis in the rural lifestyle in more than three thousand villages. With profound knowledge and utilization of cutting-edge technology, this mission has been successful at many levels. Beginning the work from grassroots it has been stretched up to the bigger strata of the society.

It is quoted by Buddha that “to keep the body in good health is a duty; otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear”. This thought provokes the need to look towards the issue of health. It is not just about diseases but also regarding the general fitness of an individual. All the susceptible areas of the society are provided with generic medicines through the Mukesh Ambani Foundation team and care is taken in concern to their requirements. Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success.

Rural Development Programmes in India

Even though the country as a whole is claimed to be developing very quickly but there still is a huge gap between the facilities and comfort that is available in the cities to those in the villages. A child cannot study for an exam that is the next day because of the shortage of electricity in the home. And one may enjoy a candlelight dinner but a candlelight study is strain to the eyes as well as merely uncomfortable. If there is a medical emergency, the victims need to wait for long period until the aid arrives. Now because of such circumstances, there has been an increased necessity of ruraltransformation in India and the respective authorities are working actively for the same.

Nearly 65% of India’s population depends on the agricultural sector, and comprises a large number of marginal farmers who hold less than two acres of land. In fact, the average size of operational holdings in India has progressively diminished from 2.28 ha to 1.23 ha in the last three decades. Please see www.reliancefoundation.org
